OSA visitors, even though we wish to gain your support for OSA and our troops, we want to make you aware of Notes With Wings, we partner with them because of the wonderful work that they are doing. Though they are a British militarys support organization honoring their fallen warriors, they also honor America's fallen as well. That goes to show the true nature of their care and concern for military personnel and honoring them and their families. Notes With Wings, is a place where our respective countrymen can be remembered and honored for the sacrifice they made for their country. It is NOT just a place to see faces, it is much, much more than that. So please check them out, we are sure that you will be glad you did.

Notes With Wings

Short Video

What we do and why it needed to be done!

Notes With Wings offer you, the public a place to remember our Nations Fallen Heroes. The idea came about when one of the (co)founders - veteran James Lugassy returned from Iraq and sat on a train only to watch another commuter casually flick past the page that described the combat fatality of one of his serving friends. The idea that his friend would only get one picture and page in the paper, to be ignored by thousands would upset and shock him.

This day would be the one which would change how Fallen Heroes are rememebered forever. What started out with one page quickly became a place for all fallen heroes where their pictures and stories can be re-visited again and again, for all conflicts - past, present and future. Young men and women who sacrifice their lives for their country deserve more than being a name on a wall or a small article in the paper, and as such the website Notes With Wings was born and we hope in the near future with the use of QR codes we can merge our digital memorial walls (Examples here) and physical (real life, already existing) memorial walls together so that people will get a true understanding of what kind of person answered their countries call and paid the ultimate price. We will revolutionise the way our service men and women are remembered forever.

Notes With Wings is a  Free-To-Use Military Memorial Service that allows friends, family and fellow military comrades to create Military Specific tributes boasting lots and lots of personalised and special features such as allowing the creator or members of the public to:

1. Create a Tribute for a fallen hero - including photos, videos, and eulogies in a place where members of the public can visit and leave 'Notes With Wings' of appreciation and support for the family.

2. Add military specific criteria to the tribute, such as Unit/Regimental insignia, ability to "pin" images of the actual medals earnt during sevice to the tribute (we supply a catagorized list for you to select from, relevant to the country of service) and attach newspaper articles relating to the fallen hero.

3. Link the heros tribute to a Memorial Wall (a place where heros tributes are grouped together - much in the same way as a real memorial wall); these can take the form of a Unit or Regimental Memorial Wall (i.e. Fallen navy Seals), a conflict specific Memorial Wall (Fallen heroes of Afghanistan), a digital replica of a famous Memorial Wall or cemetary (such as Arlington), or a specific incident or date in which a number of comrades were tragically killed together.

4. Tributes can also be linked together directly as fallen comrades, or via a family tree, especially if there is a history of military service within the family.

Why Notes With Wings in the Facebook era?

It was this question that gave birth to the Notes With Wings concept:

After losing a good friend to active service James (Co-founder) could not write on the wall of friend and comrade 'Jay' because when working so closely, there was never the need to "friend" on facebook. Out-of-the-blue Jay was killed by enemy gunfire. At this point James could not access Jay's page to leave unsaid words or revisit it at times of emptyness to tell Jay how he missed him. Further to that, his parents couldn't take over the page and its privicy settings as Facebook didnt allow it. The Facebook "memorialise feature" disallows any editing of the Profile and prevents friends from being added, there was no good solution here.

The idea was born to create a service where not only could friends, comrades, family and the general public could come by at any time to leave unsaid words and take comfort in that feeling of connection, but also where Military Men and Women who sacrificed could all be found in ONE place. A place where you could read their stories, and see their faces and thank them without having to have known them specifically. Today we see Mom's and Dad's taking that very comfort in the public eye straight from our service, where hundreds of respectful strangers have taken the time to comment and thank them for their families sacrifice.

Notes With Wings was set up to offer something more personal than facebook, something which could show passers by a true overview of our Fallen Heroes lives.. A place with a truely military and patriotic feel. Somewhere that could show the medals earned during service and teach you about them, a place where you could learn about their regiment and role - their commitment to our freedom. A place generations can look back on to see those we lost too soon.

Three years from concept to reality

Three years ago the service was nothing more than a concept - a day dream on a train. Today the service is a fully featured live web-based service which proudly presents over 100 Military Tributes, with over 1,300 'Notes With Wings' left by a caring public.

Our facebook page has shown that there is massive support for the idea, with many extremely positive comments regarding what we are only just beginning to achieve (with great thanks to anyone to has reached us there.. if you haven't yet please do: www.facebook.com/nwwfallenheroes ) and our fanbase has now reached over 65,000 fans.

Each created Tribute eventually is linked to our Facebook Fan page as a post via a photo of the fallen hero and link to their Notes With Wings Tribute, where our community can read their story and leave words of support to the family. This post can be linked directly to the Tribute, importing all of the comments left on the post at facebook directly to Tribute (at Notes With Wings) as "Notes With Wings" (messages of support) from our community.
Visit this page for an example

Our website has started to gain traction and speed with around 5 Tributes a week being created. The Globe and Laurel have been in touch and are looking to create some sort of feature on us in the coming months in their magazine.

Honor and Remember - an American organisation who have created a specific flag in memory of our nations fallen heroes (please also read their story!) have asked us to feature their flag on our American Tributes and coming soon, we will be helping them move forward to the UK with their cause:  www.honorandremember.org

We are reaching out currently to magazines and news papers looking for feature articles about this new way to remember our Nations Heroes. We are pleased with the momentum of the site so far considering the lack of advertisement budget and have high and exciting hopes for the future.

Ahead of the time

We will never forget the sacrifices our Heroes have made to secure our freedoms and our Memorial Walls and Current Tributes show that no one else will either.

Our Vision:

The QR code on each Tribute will be transformed in to a metallic plaque (below) which can be attached to grave stones and memorial walls all around the world.

Though the code has many uses this is an example of what we envision:

This plaque will appear next to the name of every fallen Service Man or Service Woman on every memorial wall in the world. Visitors will download the app which can read this code by following a link provided on a notice board and thereafter visitors will be able to see and read about the lives and backgrounds of our nations fallen Heroes, leaving millions and millions of "Notes With Wings" (comments of love and support) at each Tribute via our service.

There are many real life memorials in memory of our heroes but we have a vision that these walls will become virtual, interactive and most of all.. accessible from anywhere in the world. Notes With Wings serves as an excellent global platform from which to remember and honour our Nations fallen, as well as a wonderful learning tool for our next generations, and many more to come.

The service itself has already helped people through the grieving process and gives them a special place that is tailored to what our Heroes were most passionate about, the military.

The above code (found on every Tribute at Notes With Wings) will link you directly to their Tribute, like below

Meet The Team

Avi Lugassy - Developer

Hi,

My name is Avi Lugassy and it is my pleasure to have coded this service personally.

It is my brother James Lugassy who has served in the 2nd Parachute Regiment and together we created this concept and service.

Over the past 3 years it has been my pleasure to program this service with much aid from my brother regarding features which we feel will help both the Tribute Creator and the day to day visitors benefit most from our service.

With a background in charity fundraising I have always wanted to do something which will help others, today I bring you Notes With Wings which is one of many ways I hope to help in my lifetime.

I am very honoured to bring you our service, and thank you in advance for any help you can offer in helping us bring this to the public eye and further in bringing our vision to reality.

James Lugassy
- Co Founder

Hi,

My name is James Lugassy, brother to Avi Lugassy. Together we have created a service that will change the way our fallen service personnel are remembered forever.

I proudly served seven years with Britain's elite Parachute Regiment, seeing front-line Operational experience in Macedonia, Northern Ireland, Iraq and Afghanistan, as well as overseas training in Belize, Botswana and Kenya. During my time I lost friends to both the Iraq and Afghanistan conflicts, and after seeing what little my friends got in return for their sacrifice (be it a small clip in the paper, or a name amongst many on a stone wall) I decided that someone should do something to change it. At the time I never imagined it might be me. After having the idea to create a simple web page dedicated to one of my friends, the ideas just kept coming and the concept kept evolving, what started out as wanting to do something small for one soldier has become a way to change and revolutionise the way we remember all soldiers. I spoke to my brother (a computer programmer) about the idea and he was equally as passionate about it. We have worked hard for 3 years on this and now can proudly introduce you to Notes With Wings.

Until now numbers and names have always measured the weight of conflict with examples like "That war was awful, we lost so many". Having served on the front line in Iraq and Afghanistan our aim is now to change numbers and names into personalities and faces, so that future generations can look back and see what sort of Service Personnel were prepared to pay the ultimate price. I feel that this is something truly important for all of us and future generations, it is our history and freedom.

I am very honoured to bring you our service, and thank you in advance for any help you can offer in helping us bring this to the public eye and further in bringing our vision to reality.
